This Could Get Ugly…
Something interesting happened to me last week. I realized I needed to get off my ass and start learning how to spin.
I’ve been a fan of electronic music since I was about 13 years old but it wasn’t until 2006 when I fell in love with it. It doesn’t really matter what genre it is, I’m obsessed with it all. So my buddy Matt was nice enough to offer some free lessons and now it’s all I can think about.
To be brutally honest, I SUCK at it. But whatever, I’ve been doing it for like 5 days so lay off!
What’s really exciting is listening to tracks all day long and wondering how I could put my own spin on it so to speak. How could I make it my own? I’ve also gained a massive amount of respect for any DJ out there whether I dig his/her music or not. There’s a lot more to DJ’ing than just hitting a couple of buttons and syncing things up. If you think it’s easy, I dare you to download a trial version of Ableton Live and give it a whirl.
